Well I just didn't see it anywhere so I was wondering what our current limitations on cos-play whatevers are.

I mean the obvious no nudity or live weaponry is kind of a duh.  But since we're having the con in a school I wasn't sure if curtian other restrictions would apply.  Would false weaponry be banned?  How about religously suggestive costums?

I just wanted to know what the limits where and am in no way suggesting extra rules should be implicated, just wondering if there where any.

well.. we have no offical giudelines as of yet, but when they do get released as far as i am concerned there is no county policy that states you can't have a cardboard sword (aka there isn't something that says no fake weapons). they use them in plays so i don't see why not.

as for costumes. as long as the costume respects logical decency laws and will not scar a small child for life, I think it will be fine.  For religiously suggestive: i mean if u are talking raptor jesus thats cool, just don't walk around in a shirt the says "f**** all the [insert minority group here]", but the reason u would get kicked out is not because you wore the shirt, but b/c the shirt would promote dangerous behavior (aka a fight or worse).

If u have any specific costume inquierey let me know. I will be posting weapons guidelines soon, but interms of costumes i think whatever you see at any con is fine. Weapons are the only place of concern and as long as your weapon doesn't risk the injury and harm, of other con attendees (aka is so large you are prone to hit ppl left and right) i think it will be fine.

I was wondering about the length/size of shirts, in my school spagetti straps are not allowed and no showing of the mid-section.

The top for the cosplay I'm planning reveals the mid-section. Basically what I'm attempting to ask is if we're going to have to follow school rules, basic convention issues, or both.[as far as clothing goes]

I was curious about the religious question. There are quite a few characters who wear swatikas or similar arm bands that could be mistaken for swastikas. I won't be wearing such a costume, but I am very curious if these would be allowed. (Examples of cosplays with arm bands: Vampire Knight, Hellsing)

You can wear spagetti straps or show your mid-driff.  Just don't come in a bikini or something...The rules are more lax, like how with school dances, they let you wear shorter clothes with your shoulder/back showing....etc.... So our rules are more lax than regular school rules, but it can't be full blown near-nakedness.  ^^;  Sorry.  There will be adminis around to monitor us.

Yes, armbands are allowed.

I have a prop question: I'm going to be wearing a chain (it's a plastic one I spray painted) around my shoulders and arms. Is that okay to bring? I know it could be considered a choking hazard or weapon (even though it's plastic). It's about 7 and a half feet long, I don't plan on letting it drag on the floor though... ew... ^^;
