I'm thinking of claiming a table at the Artist Alley with a friend of mine, mostly to have fun and for the experience, since we've never done this before. I'm just an amateur that draws in her spare time, but I really enjoy it and hope to get better. I have a deviantART, but I haven't updated the art in a very long while (almost a year, wow! need to get to that...) . Most of my art is actually in scraps. But here's the link anyway. http://almyki.deviantart.co/ I haven't improved that much, so, eh. I'm really into fairies right now, totally, so I'm planning on drawing a lot of them for the con, and make some prints of them (small ones mostly, like 3x3 to 5x5, and then maybe an 8.5x11 or something). I rarely color my work, typically, but I need to practice that more so I'm going to color the ones I make for the con. Pricing probably ranging $1-10? I may also do quick, small sketches of cute random stuff for free or cheap (Like 50c or something) . I'll also be open for some casual art trades (I've never done that before = O ) . I may try and make a couple one-page comics or the like for this too... Or write super-short stories/excerpts to go with some pictures. Comments or critique in my art is very appreciated, don't be afraid to be harsh because I really appreciate that. I can critique your work too if you want, but ONLY ask for my opinion if you aren't afraid of harshness, as I've been told I can be pretty brutal when it comes to criticism. I'll try and post some recent artwork here soon, maybe some WIPs of stuff I plan to sell at the con. What sorts of art and things would other people like to see or buy at the Artist Alley? Suggestions would be cool, I like hearing other people's ideas. <3 ali

Would you like to do an art trade with me? I've visited your DA page and I think your art is pretty good. Since you don't color your work very often, perhaps we could do sketches. For pricing, start at around $3 or so. A dollar is just too cheap for art. The small quick sketches could be a little cheaper if you like. Some things people like to buy besides commissions and prints are buttons, stickers, bookmarks... small stuff like that. Stickers are really easy to make and you could sell them at around 50 cents each. They're really cheap to make, and all you really have to do is print out multiiples of a picture on sticker paper with your printer and cut them out. I'll be doing the same thing. Since I've been to an artist alley before, feel free to ask me anything. I'm here to help! ^_^

I'd love to do an art trade, and thank you for the compliment! I don't mind coloring, I need to practice more often anyway, so either sketch or colored piece is fine by me. What exactly would you like to art trade? Do we request something from each other, or draw an OC of each other's? ^^; Really, minimum $3? If that's standard, I guess I shouldn't shortchange myself XD . Quick random sketches can turn out 'OK' to 'really horrible', so I wouldn't want to charge much for them XD . Ooh, bookmarks! I've already drawn a couple bookmark-y stuff! And stickers, really? That sounds cool, I'd like to learn more about it. I'll ask my printing teacher =3 (I'm in a print class, how convenient) . <3 ali

Stickers are really easy. You make a picture, put multiple copies on one sheet (I like to use MS Word since you can resize pictures and you can then copy and paste) and just print it out on sticker paper. As for the art trade, it can be of anything. What are you best at drawing? I'm fine with both humans and animals myself, and I use colored pencils and markers to color.

Oh, neat! Thanks for the lesson. I pretty much stick to drawing people, myself. I guess we make a request of each other, or something? What sort of art would you like? I've been drawing a 'Lolita Faeries' series for the con, and have inked the ones that I've drawn so far today. Yay =3 . I'll be coloring them next, but to show them as they are just inked:
There's 'Kuro-Shiro Twins' ('Kuro/Black Loli' and 'Shiro/White Loli'), which you... can't really tell without color. A lot of these are ineffective without color ^^; . The three large ones are, left to right, 'Sweet Loli', 'Classic Loli', and 'Goth Loli'. I'll also be doing an 'Arisocrat Loli', 'Punk Loli', 'Boy Loli', and maybe some subtypes. To learn more about loli styles, if you have no idea what I'm talking about, you can check out http://lolita-handbook.livejournal.com/3035.html#cutid1 . The wings are going to be done digitally, because the effect I want can't be done with pen. Any criticism or suggestions to better it, before finishing it? Do they seem fine for the con? I may make this into one large piece, giving brief descriptions of each type of loli... like a 'loli styles guide' thing. :shrugs: But then, that may be too inconvenient. <3 ali
